Celebration – The Folk Galore | Folk Art

A reclining Buddha face appears against a dark green and brown ground, with pink lotus blooms rising at the right edge. The palette stays earthy and muted through olive, charcoal, beige, dusty rose, and pearl white in the necklace, while the flowers carry the brightest color and keep the image from turning flat. The head sits close to the center and tilts left, filling most of the picture plane so the closed eyes, curled ear, and beaded strand read before anything else. Buddha Serenity focuses on a peaceful portrait treatment of the figure, and the lotus stems act as a small counterweight near the border because the face occupies so much of the surface. The technique looks painterly and textured, with grain across the surface, soft transitions around the eyelids and cheek, and darker outlines that shape the nose, lips, curls, and jewelry. And the visible texture would hold up better on a wall with some viewing distance than in a tight passage. But it's wrong for a busy kids_room or a cramped gallery wall where the quiet expression and side details would get crowded out.

I experienced art through exploration and experimentation, and not with education. My journey with art was triggered during my schooling days. My art teacher in school introduced me to colors, different art forms and mediums. Since then I have been connected to the world of art. This connect remained so strong through the years that I finally landed up picking art as my career. Being passionate about art, trying every form of art came very naturally to me.
