About the artwork

Most viewers notice the dog before the small white flowers, yet those blooms along the lower edge do quiet work in setting the scene. They sit to the right of the road and below the large tree, while the path climbs diagonally through the middle and pulls the eye uphill into the brighter patch of light. A white dog with brown markings stands alone on that road, paused as if listening or deciding where to go next. The setting around it is a wooded landscape, with a dense line of dark trees on the left and softer grass on the right. Yellow ochre dominates the road, green fills the banks and tree line, and the sky shifts into muted blue and gray, which makes the bright track feel warmer and more direct than the rest of the picture. In Where The Light Calls | Landscape Painting, the paint handling looks simple and hand built, with blended color in the sky, repeated vertical strokes for trunks, and short leaf marks that thicken the tree mass. And the surface appears slightly textured in the lighter areas, so glare from glass could catch on the road and upper right foliage. This is wrong for a very small room or a sharply minimal interior that can't carry its earthy yellow path and busy tree edge.
