About the artwork

The artist has built the chocolate sheen with tight gradations and small white highlights, so the coating reads as wet and rounded instead of flat brown color on paper. In Indulgence | Contemporary Food Art, the drip edges are handled with care, and that makes the lower trails feel heavy enough to pull downward while the berry still keeps its crisp outline. The subject is a single strawberry covered in chocolate, with one red side fruit and a cluster of green leaves still visible at the base. A smaller red section appears at the left, which keeps the image from turning into a simple silhouette. And the isolated placement leaves a wide field of white paper around the fruit, giving the central form room to stand alone and making this better suited to a clean wall than a crowded one. The palette stays tight with red, brown, green, and white, but the contrast is sharp because the glossy dark coating sits over bright fruit and fresh leaves. The surface reads as smooth paper with finely blended color and little visible grain.
