About the artwork

Acrylic paint is worked in broad, visible strokes, with layered patches of color and dark contour lines that keep the figure firmly in view. The subject is a frontal female bust, and the butterfly covering her eyes turns the face into the main event while the lips, hair, neck, and bare shoulder stay legible around it. The title Girl with Butterfly Eyes fits the image closely. Blues and greens dominate the background and wings, while red, yellow, pink, white, and black push across the skin and butterfly edges, creating sharp shifts between cool space and heated flesh tones. Brushwork stays loose but intentional, with blended passages in the face and neck set against rougher, streaked marks in the hair and backdrop, and the wing shapes are outlined strongly enough that the image holds together even where color breaks into quick painterly swipes. And the placement is blunt and centered, with the head and butterfly filling most of the frame so the painting reads best where it has some breathing room around it, because a crowded wall would compress the impact of the face and wing span. The surface appears matte with visible paint layering.
