About the artwork

Soft tonal shifts around the muzzle and eyes do much of the work here, because the painter keeps the white coat readable against a smoky dark ground without outlining every edge. The subject is a close horse portrait, shown frontally with the head centered and the mane thrown outward in loose ribbons. The title The Mighty Stallion fits the image's direct gaze and lifted neck, while the cropped chest keeps attention on the face, ears, and wind-pulled hair. Pale gray, off white, charcoal, and a faint blush tone at the nose shape the palette. Dark blue gray in the background pushes the lighter head forward, and the limited range keeps the image serious instead of decorative. The technique looks smooth and layered, with blended transitions across the forehead and cheek, plus finer linear strokes in the mane that keep motion alive. There isn't visible heavy texture, so the surface should read cleanly from a few steps back, though the darker field will show glare if hung opposite strong glass or a window. So this painting needs enough wall around it to let the centered head hold the room, and it should be placed on a plain, darker or neutral wall where side light can catch the mane without washing out the face.
